Circuit Race What is the Thunderhill Sampler? Is it part of the stage race? A: The Thunderhill Sampler is NOT part of the stage race. The Thunderhill Sampler is a “catch all” category and will be run as a separate event. Race will not count towards the stage race. This allows for Cat 4 and Cat 5 racers to enjoy the auto track if they want to race on Friday, in addition to their 2-day Stage Race on Saturday and Sunday. You must register for the Thunderhill Sample separately.
If I am a Women's Cat 4, can I race the Thunderhill Sampler? A: Heck yes you can! This is open to all racers that hold a USAC license and meet the category requirements.
Can I warm up prior to the circuit race? A: The skid pad will be open for warm up. Absolutely no warming up on the track! Warm-ups on Hwy
162 not encouraged. The skid pad located on the East side of the paddock is
available for warming up. Trainers highly recommended!
Road Race Where does the road race start this year? A: The Paskenta Hills RR start and finish returns to the hamlet of Paskenta, 19.5 miles west of Corning. It starts in the town of Paskenta near the community park and uses these roads in a clockwise loop: Paskenta Rd, Corning Rd, Black Butte Rd, Tapscott Rd., Newville Rd, Round Valley Rd. Finish line located at top of hill on Round Valley Rd ½ mile from starting line.
Time Trial When do I know what TT start time is? A: Rider start times will be posted on this website under "Racer Info>TT Start Times" , Chico Stage Race Facebook Saturday afternoon following the road race, and at the officials tent at the TT Start and Criterium HQ. Where do I park at the time trail? A: There is NO parking at the TT start. DO NOT park on private property or in front of homes! Racers are encouraged to warm up on trainers at the downtown criterium area where there are ample parking locations/bathrooms. The start is only 1.5 miles from the criterium. There will also be parking and trainer warm-up locations available at the Rosedale Elementary School parking lot and along Oak Park Ave. If you do park and warm up at the school, please pack up and leave after your TT finish so other racers can use the parking. Can my team setup our tent at the TT start? A: NO. There is no parking available at the TT start. It is recommended you setup your team tent at the Downtown Criterium, and ride to the start of the TT. Please do not park in the near by orchards, the land is very valuable to the owners and we receive several complains each year from landowners regarding racers.
Criterium Are you offering a free kids race again? A: Yes! The race is free to all kids 9 years of age and younger. It will be at 12:40pm, and there are varying course lengths depending on age and ability. Helmets and waivers are required. Visit the awards tent for more information and to sign in.
Can my team setup our tent at the criterium? A: Yes. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to get an assigned location and information about setup.
General Are you offering early packet pickup? A: No, you can print the technical guide here. You can pickup your numbers starting an hour prior to your first event.
Do I have to wear my helmet even when I'm rolling around the parking lot? A: Helmets must be worn and secured at all times while on a bicycle. Per USAC 1J1, "At all times when participating in an event held under a USA Cycling event permit, including club rides, any rider on a bicycle or motorcycle shall wear a protective, securely fastened helmet that satisfies the standards specified in USA Cycling Policies...at any time between the beginning of registration and the last awarding of prizes."
Can I race just one stage? I want to race the criterium only, can I do that? A: No, since the event is a stage race each stage must be completed in order to start the next stage.

Do I really need to show a copy of my race license at registration? A: Yes, USAC 1H7 states "riders must present a valid racing license from USA Cycling or an international license from another national federation that is affiliated with the UCI". If you are using a USAC Green License or USAC app on your phone, please save a screen shot prior to the race since we cannot guarantee there will be cell phone service at race locations.
If I win prize money where do I pickup my cash prize? A: All prizes will be available at the prize tent in the Chico City Plaza during the Downtown Criterium on Sunday. Jersey’s and Trophies will be handed out at the podium presentations for each stage. Podium schedules will be available at the sign-in area of each event and will be emailed the previous night to race participants. You must be present at your podium ceremony to be eligible to receive prize money! Please respect the podium and wear your team kit!
Do I really need to read the technical guide? A: YES!! The technical guide has every piece of information you need for the race. Before emailing your questions regarding the race, please check the Race Flyer and/or Technical Guide prior...it most likely will answer your question.
